Introducing INRAE

The Institut national de recherche pour l'agriculture, l'alimentation et l'environnement (INRAE) is a public research establishment under the dual authority of the French Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Research.

It is a major player in research and innovation, created on January 1, 2020. A finalized research institute resulting from the merger between Inra and Irstea, INRAE brings together a community of 12,000 people, with 268 research, service and experimental units, located in 18 centers throughout France.

The institute is a world leader in agricultural and food sciences, plant and animal sciences, and ranks 11th worldwide in ecology-environment. Faced with population growth, climate change, resource scarcity and declining biodiversity, INRAE is building solutions for multi-performance agriculture, quality food and sustainable management of resources and ecosystems.

Working environment, missions and activities

You will work in a 90-strong unit comprising 5 teams. You will be assigned to the 7-strong RHuMA (Human Reproduction and Animal Models) team. You will also interact with one or more animal experimentation units.

As part of the team, you will work primarily under the supervision of one of the team's engineers on a project aimed at identifying the role of extracellular vesicles in interactions between the embryo and the endometrium, and in certain infertility problems. You will contribute to the regular purification, on large sample series, of vesicles present in biological fluids (such as uterine fluids or blood) or produced by mammalian embryos or by the uterus, in vivo (experimental situations of metabolic or inflammatory contrast) or in vitro (primary cultures of endometrial cells derived in the team). You will also contribute to characterizing the internalization (uptake) and cellular localization of vesicles produced by immunofluorescence, as well as the content of these vesicles by analyzing their protein (western-blot), RNA and miRNA (RT-qPCR) content. In the longer term, you will participate in the development of new techniques related to the study of vesicles: new methods for vesicle purification and RNA extraction, development of vesicle production by in vitro culture models for phenotype correction experiments by vesicle action...

You will also be in charge of stock management and ordering consumables related to your activities, and will contribute to the implementation of a quality approach. You will be responsible for carrying out, alone or as part of a team, all or part of an experimental protocol in accordance with established procedures, from sample collection and management to the delivery of analytical results. You will also be required to collaborate with other teams in the Unit (in particular, the research fellow who will be recruited from the PEPPS (Placenta, Environment and Phenotype Programming) team to work on placental vesicles), staff from the SAAJ (Jouy Animal and Food Sciences) experimental unit and external teams (INRAE or others). You will be involved in multiple collaborations with teams inside and outside the unit, initially to study extra-cellular vesicles and produce synthetic vesicles for in vitro corrective actions. You will be involved in day-to-day laboratory tasks (keeping laboratory notebooks, stock management, orders, responsibility for equipment, drafting of operating procedures).

Training and skills required

Experience in molecular biology desirable.
Knowledge of mammalian cell biology.

Your quality of life at INRAE

By joining INRAE, you benefit from :
